Welcome to the WhimzeeStitches Blog!
I’m Rick, the maker, dyer, sewist, photographer, packer, shipper, designer and chief yarn enabler behind WhimzeeStitches Designs. For more than a decade, I’ve been creating colorful handmade project bags for knitters and crocheters, and in 2019 I added another obsession to the mix: hand-dyed yarn.

Well, hello there—and welcome to my brand-new little corner of the internet!
WhimzeeStitches has always been about color, creativity and making things that bring a little extra joy to your crafting time. Whether I’m pairing fabrics for a new project bag, standing over the dye pots experimenting with a new colorway, or packing the van for another fiber festival or trunk show event, there’s usually something colorful happening around here.
So why start a blog?
Because there’s a whole lot more happening behind the scenes than I can squeeze into an Instagram post!
Here I’ll be sharing new yarn colorways and project bag collections, peeks inside my New Orleans studio, inspiration behind my designs, upcoming fiber festivals and trunk shows, knitting and crochet chatter, and probably a few stories about what it’s really like running a small creative business all by myself.
Most of all, I want this to be a fun place to talk about the things we love: beautiful yarn, great fabric, handmade goodies and the projects we swear we absolutely needed to cast on. 😉
So grab your current WIP, pour yourself something good, and stick around. I’m excited to finally have a place where I can share a little more of the WhimzeeStitches story with you.
Thanks for being here—and welcome!
Happy stitching!
Rick
